Joshua Scott Stone

Joshua Scott Stone is the Dean of Students, an English Teacher, and a Diversity Practitioner at Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, Florida.  He earned a B.A. from Emory University, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Miami.  Josh created a senior elective English course at Ransom Everglades called "Voices from the Inside," a class that interrogates mass incarceration in the US and examines texts written in and/or about prison.  In addition to fostering self-discovery through writing exchanges with incarcerated students, "Voices from the Inside" asks participants to examine prison writing with the intent to learn more about themselves and the society to which they belong.  Josh lives in Biscayne Park, Florida, with his wife Alli and his two sons, Eli and Nate.
